Wildcats Go 2-1 On Final Day Of Tourney

NEW CASTLE, Del. - The Daemen College women's bowling team earned a sixth-place finish as play concluded at the Wildcat Invitational. The three-day tournament was hosted by Wilmington University at Bowlerama Lanes, and the 12-team field included eight of Daemen's East Coast Conference brethren.

Daemen posted wins in two of three matches today as the tournament shifted to bracket play. All three matches were played under Baker format best-of-seven rules. The Wildcats opened the day as the number seven seed following two days of round-robin action, but jumped up a spot by virtue of today's results.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Daemen opened the day with a 4-0 sweep (755-622 total pin fall) of Bloomfield College, avenging a 938-865 loss in their final round robin match in the process.
  • The Wildcats then downed Caldwell University 4-2 in their second-round match (1161-1076 total pin fall). The win avenged an 848-804 loss yesterday to the Cougars. Caldwell is ranked No. 8 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Division II-III preseason national poll.
  • The tournament came to an end when Daemen fell 4-2 to No. 7 Kutztown University, their third loss to the Bears in the last eight days.
