Boyar Earns Second Straight Scholar All-Region Selection 12/16/2019 2:15:00 PM By: By Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications AMHERST, N.Y. - Senior forward Jamie Boyar (Williamsville, N.Y.) of Daemen College has been named to the NCAA Division II Women's Scholar All-East Region Team announced today by the United Soccer Coaches. It marks the second straight season that Boyar has earned the academic recognition as she studies in Daemen's business administration program with a specialization in marketing. The Scholar All-Region program recognizes student-athletes in their junior year and beyond that have maintained at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, while also taking into account athletic contributions to their respective teams. Today's award adds to the laundry list of accomplishments for Boyar over the course of her four-year career for the Wildcats. The Williamsville South High School product has been a three-time All-East Coast Conference selection, including the last two seasons when she earned first-team honors. She has also earned All-East Region Second Team honors in each of the last two seasons from the United Soccer Coaches and Division II Conference Commissioner's Association. After establishing Daemen's single-season goal-scoring record with 20 tallies as a junior, Boyar came back with 18 more goals this season while leading the Wildcats to their first-ever NCAA tournament berth. She leaves as the program's all-time leader in goals with 55, surpassing the previous record of 54 set by Kim Walker from 2003-06, and also ranks second for career points (121). Boyar appeared in and started all 68 games since the start of the 2016 season, leading Daemen to a 32-29-7 overall record in those contests. Daemen College features the only NCAA Division II athletics program in the Buffalo-Niagara region, sponsoring 17 intercollegiate teams.
