Daemen, the top-ranked team in the East Region and ranked in both Division II national polls, improved to 18-3 overall and 10-1 in ECC play. The Wildcats seize full control of first place in the ECC standings as Molloy drops to 14-7 overall and 10-2 in the league. Sischo matched his career-high wih 36 points and added 16 rebounds, including 11 at the offensive end. The Daemen big man made a career-best 16 field goals, matching the program record for field goals in a single game set by Ralph Henderson just over 31 years ago to the day (vs. Waynesbug, Feb. 6, 1988). Sischo scored 20 points in the first half alone. It marked his second straight game with at least 30 points, and his fourth this season. His previous 36-point outing also came against Molloy, helping Daemen to a 102-98 double overtime win at Lumsden Gymnasium last February. In four career games against the Lions, Sischo is averaging 30.0 points and 14.5 rebounds per game while shooting 63.5 percent from the field (47-of-74). In 19 games this season, Sischo is averaging 22.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Redshirt junior forward Jeff Redband (Batavia, N.Y.) also doubled up for Daemen, scoring 13 points and grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds. It marked Redband's first career double-double, as he did most of his offensive damage from the charity stripe where he shot 8-for-8. Jay Sarkis (Rochester, N.Y.) and Breon Harris (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) chipped in with 13 points apiece. Curtis Jenkins shot 10-for-12 from the free throw line and totaled 21 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals to pace the Lions. Mike Torre connected on a trio of three-pointers and finished with 11 points, and Nick Corbett chipped in with 10 points, albeit on just 3-of-13 shooting for the Lions. Molloy led 7-4, but Daemen used a 20-7 run to open up a double-figure lead (24-14) with less than 10 minutes gone in the opening period. Sischo accounted for 12 points in the run which was capped by a Harris three-pointer at the 10:53 mark. After Molloy cut it to 24-19, Daemen outscored the hosts 26-11 down the stretch of the period to open up a 50-30 halftime lead. Sischo scored on a second-chance opportunity to close out the first-half scoring. Daemen's lead grew to 22 points early in the second half when Sischo canned a pair of free throws to make the score 57-35. But, Molloy chipped away, scoring 21 of the next 29 points to pull within single digits (65-56) on a Jenkins three-pointer with 9:50 to play. Daemen built the lead back to 13 points (77-64) on a Sarkis free throw with 3:18 to play. Again, Molloy rallied back, getting back-to-back three-pointers from Steven Torre (nine points) to cut the deficit to 77-70. That's as close as they would come however. Daemen got a pair of Harris free throws and another inside bucket by Sischo to go back ahead by 12 with just more than a minute to go. The final margin reached 14 points as Redband canned a pair of freebies with 17 ticks remaining. The win extended Daemen's ECC road winning streak to 13 straight games. It also split the season series between Daemen and Molloy. The Lions scored a 72-71 win at Lumsden Gymnasium last month on Corbett's three-pointer with less than five seconds remaining. Daemen is 8-5 all-time against Molloy, and tonight's spread was the widest in the series since a 75-61 Daemen win on Dec. 12, 2014. Coming into tonight, five of the last six meetings had been decided by four points or fewer. Sischo's presence inside helped Daemen to big advantages in paint scoring (44-26) as well as second chance points (28-12). Daemen closes out their two-game road trip Sunday when they face Queens College at Fitzgerald Gymnasium. The Wildcats will be looking for the season sweep after defeating the Knights 80-65 at Lumsden Gymnasium last month. The Knights dropped a 62-45 decision at home to Roberts Wesleyan College tonight.
