OLEAN, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies today in a non-conference matchup today at the St. Bonaventure Fitness Center. The loss moves Daemen to 1-15 on the year while the Bonnies move to 3-12. The Atlantic-10 members are a Division I team.
The Bonnies first point came from winning the three doubles matches. Â In a new scoring format for NCAA Division II matches this season, the outcome of doubles matches will award a single point to the team winning at least two of the three matchups, as opposed to awarding points for each individual doubles victory.
Daemen top doubles team of Christina Stasiuk (Bowmansville, N.Y.) and Jessica Robins (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) and the third seeded doubles team of Alliya Foster (Bronx, N.Y.) and Andrea D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.) both fell by a score of 6-0. The second duo team of Sarah Kenny (Perth Australia) and Courtney Otis (Marcellus, N.Y.) fell 6-1.
All six singles matches were won in straight sets by the Bonnies. Stasiuk was defeated 6-2, 6-1 in the top seeded singles matches. Robins in the No. 2 slot fell 6-1,6-4. Kenny, Otis, Foster and D'Sa all suffered losses in singles play for the Wildcats.Â
The Wildcats will then travel to take on Angelo State and Southern Utah in Southern California on March 12 and March 14.Â
