Wildcats Post Two Wins During Opening Day Of ECC Championship

WYOMISSING, Pa. - The Daemen College women's bowling team opened play at the East Coast Conference Championship today. The event is being hosted by Kutztown University at Hiester Lanes in Wyomissing, Pa.

The 13-team tournament began with each team playing five round robin matches. Daemen played four head-to-head matches and also had a bye. The Wildcats went 1-3 during the head-to-head matches, as they suffered losses to Chestnut Hill College (971-907), Caldwell University (1013-800) and nationally-ranked Kutztown University (977-802), before posting an 873-668 win over St. Thomas Aquinas College. Daemen also rolled a 948 during its bye.

With a total pinfall of 4,330 in round robin play, the Wildcats earned the No. 11 seed as the tournament shifted to the double elimination format. Daemen opened the double elimination portion with a 918-825 win over 12th-seeded Bloomfield College. The tournament continues tomorrow and Daemen will open play against Molloy College at 10:30 a.m. Molloy posted a total pinball of 4,696 during the round robin portion and earned the No. 6 seed.

Defending champion Lincoln Memorial University went 5-0 during the round robin portion of the tournament to earn the No. 1 seed in the double elimination portion.

Daemen now stands at 27-25 on the year.
