WYOMISSING, Pa. - The Daemen College women's bowling team saw its 2018-19 season come to an end today during second-day action of the East Coast Conference Championship. The 13-team event is being hosted by Kutztown University at Hiester Lanes in Wyomissing, Pa.

Daemen, which placed fourth at this event last year, was looking to advance to "Championship Sunday" for the second-straight year.

After posting a total pinfall of 4,330 during the round robin portion of the tournament yesterday, the Wildcats were seeded 11th in the double elimination portion. Daemen opened the double elimination portion with a win over 12th-seeded Bloomfield College yesterday. Bloomfield opened today's action with a win over 13th-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas College in an elimination match. The remaining 12 teams began double elimination play at 10:30 a.m. The top four seeds (Lincoln Memorial University, Adelphi University, Caldwell University and Chestnut Hill College) received a first-round bye.

Daemen opened the day against sixth-seeded Molloy College. The Lions prevailed in the Baker format best-of-seven match by a score of 4-0. It marked Molloy's fourth win over Daemen this season.

Daemen's season came to and end following 4-0 loss to fifth-seeded Wilmington University. It marked the first meeting this season and just the second all-time meeting between the two schools. Daemen prevailed in the first-ever meeting during the Molloy College Tournament last year.

This marks the fourth year that the ECC has sponsored a championship tournament for women's bowling. Aldelphi claimed the first two titles (2016, 2017), and Lincoln Memorial prevailed last year. Daemen's fourth place finish last year was its highest finish at the event.

Daemen closes out the year with a record of 27-27. The 27 wins rank as the second most in a season over the four-year history of the program. The Wildcats posted a school-record 35 wins last year.
