Wildcats Get Second Win of the Year at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Daemen College women's tennis got their second win of the season in an 8-1 defeat of Thiel College this afternoon in non-conference play. The win pushes Daemen to 2-17 on the season while Thiel drops to 1-14.

The Wildcats were able to take the lead in doubles play after winning one match and the other by a default. Daemen's top-seeded pair of Sarah Kenny (Perth, Australia) and Andrea D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.) defeated Shyann Foreman and Ally Stanley of Thiel by a score of 6-0. The second-seeded matchup of Alliya Foster (Bronx, N.Y.) and Ailish McDevitt (Jamesville, N.Y.) fell to Abby Bowser and Amelia Mutinelli 6-3. The third and final seeded match was defaulted ultimately giving Daemen a 2-1 lead in the match. 

In singles play, Daemen did not drop a match, winning the four played singles matches all by a score of 6-0, 6-0. The final two singles matches were defaulted by Thiel. Christina Stasiuk (Bowmansville, N.Y.) defeated Foreman in the top seed. The second seed of Jessica Robins (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) defeated Stanley. Kenny and Courtney Otis (Marcellus, N.Y.) won in the third and fourth slots. 

Daemen returns to action on Wednesday, March 27 for a short trip down to Houghton College for a non-conference match beginning at 4 p.m.
