Annual Golf Outing Is Largest Fundraising Event Of The Year For Western New York's Division II Team

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Seventh Annual Wildcat Golf Classic presented by RP Oak Hill Building Company, Inc. will take place on Thursday, August 1 at Glen Oak Golf Course in East Amherst, the Daemen Athletic Department announced today. The Wildcat Golf Classic has developed into the largest fundraising event of the year for Daemen Athletics, adding more than a quarter of a million dollars to the department's external revenue coffers. Funds generated from the event help Daemen provide athletic scholarship money to well-deserving student-athletes, as well as supporting endeavors that enhance the overall student-athlete experience.

The event will feature a 12 p.m. shotgun tee time, with accommodations for 144 golfers. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with access to the driving range. A barbecue-style lunch will be served at 11:00 a.m. prior to the shotgun start. Cost for the event is $150 per golfer or $600 for a foursome. In addition to a full 18-hole round of golf, driving range and lunch, the registration fee also includes beverages on the course, an open bar and buffet dinner following golf and a tee gift. The tournament itself features a traditional four-man scramble format. No handicaps are needed for participation. Glen Oak Golf Course is designed by Robert Trent Jones and Reed Jones and features GPS-equipped golf carts with Live GPS tournament leaderboard scoring on each cart.

A wide-array of sponsorship opportunities are also available for those wishing to make it a more corporate experience for themselves or area businesses. Sponsorships range from $200 to $2,500 and include various marketing elements. Donations of gift certificates, sports equipment, game or event tickets and merchandise for use as raffle items will be accepted as well.

Those who may not be avid golfers, or just simply unavailable for the round of golf, may consider attending the Wildcat Golf Classic dinner. At just $50, the dinner-only option allows non-golfers to show their support for Daemen Athletics and enjoy the open bar, buffet dinner and awards reception which gets underway at approximately 5 p.m. on the Glen Oak patio.
