Daemen Summer Track Series Returns

AMHERST, N.Y. - After a hiatus last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Daemen College Summer Track Series returns to the calendar for Western New York runners next month. Conducted by the Daemen cross country/track and field coaching staff, the Summer Track Series offers competitions for avid runners - both adults and children - each Thursday during the month of July and is presented by Lawley Insurance with additional sponsorship support from Runner's Roost and Lloyd Taco Factory.

The Daemen College Summer Track Series will once again be held at Williamsville South High School with meets slated for July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. Each meet is open to any and all interested participants, regardless of age or running experience. Adult events include sprints of 100 and 400 meters, middle distance runs of 800 meters and 1 mile, as well as a long distance run of 3200 meters. There will be 100 and 400 meter races for children under the age of 10, and also a 400 meter heat for children over the age of 10. Participants will have the opportunity to compete for prizes in the "Premier Event of the Night" which will change weekly.

A weekly registration fee ($5 per event or $15 for unlimited events) will be charged to each participant, and all proceeds benefit the Daemen cross country/track and field program. Children's events are offered free of charge.

No pre-registration is required. Walk-up registration begins each Thursday at 5 p.m. with running events slated for a 6 p.m. start. The track is located inside the stadium directly behind Williamsville South High School at 5950 Main Street.
