Men's Tennis Shuts Out Alfred

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's tennis team did not drop a single game en route to a 7-0 shutout victory over visiting Alfred University in a non-conference match today at Miller Tennis Center. 

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 2-5 on the season. They've won two of their last three matches after opening the spring season with a 7-2 defeat of Medaille College last weekend. 

Alfred, which competes in NCAA Division III and the Empire 8 Conference, dropped to 2-1. Daemen has now won 14 of their last 15 matches against Division III opponents.

CAREER NOTES
  • With two wins today, Wilde moves into a tie with David Gonzalez Villegas for third place on Daemen's all-time wins list (combined singles/doubles); he's now totaled 66 wins in his four-year career.
  • Williamson III earned the 40th and 41st wins of his career tonight. He becomes just the seventh player in team history to reach the 40-win mark. 
  • Williamson III also secured the 14th singles win of his career tonight, moving into a tie with John Wilson for 10th in program history.
