The result dropped Daemen to 3-3 overall on the season and 1-1 in conference play. Queens, the defending conference champions, improved to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Doubles Report: Strong showing for Queens Queens started the night strong by winning all three doubles matches and claiming the doubles point. Frida Rubio (San Diego, Calif.) and Christina Stasiuk (Bowmansville, N.Y.) paired up in the first match, but fell 6-2 to Queens' Maja Makal and Nathalie Ulandar. Scime and Yinett Del Leon (Cape Coral, FL.) lost 6-0 in the second doubles match to Mariana Ling and Lilly Schmidt. In the third doubles match, Hannah Pagano(Goshen, N.Y.) and Ailish McDevitt (Jamesville, N.Y.) lost 6-0 to Gabriela Sciarrotta and Chole Certain. Singles Report: Scime puts Wildcats on the board Scime earned the Wildcats their lone point of the dual with a win in the third singles match. She defeated Ling in a back-and-forth match by a score of 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) to improve to 4-3 in singles play this season. Makal, Sciarrotta, Certain and Schmidt all earned their second wins of the duals. Rubio pushed Makal, the ECC Preseason Player of the Year, on the first singles court before falling 7-5, 6-3. Stasiuk came close to knocking off Sciarrotta on the second singles court, but fell in three sets (7-5, 3-6, 0-1 [3-10]). Mana Koitabashi rounded out the Knights' scoring with a win on the sixth singles court. Next Serve Daemen faces another conference test tomorrow evening as they host St. Thomas Aquinas in a 7:30 p.m. dual match at Miller Tennis Center. Daemen College features the premier NCAA Division II athletics program in the Buffalo-Niagara region, sponsoring 18 intercollegiate teams.
