Daemen Bowling Wins 3 Of 5 On Opening Day Of Falcon Fall Classic

LODI, N.J. - The Daemen women's bowling team posted a 3-2 record and accumulated 4,226 pins on the opening day of the Falcon Fall Classic being hosted this weekend by Felician College at Lodi Lanes.

All five matches today were of the traditional variety. The Wildcats opened with a tight six-pin setback (823-817) to Western New York rival D'Youville, but followed up with three straight wins. Daemen knocked off Molloy (847-836), Wagner (891-778) and Felician (865-858) before succumbing to Caldwell (884-806) in their final match of the day.

Today's results sends Daemen's season record to 17-17. The Wildcats sit in fourth place in the tournament's total pinfall standings, just eight pins back of third-place Caldwell (4,234). Nationally- ranked teams No. 8 Fairleigh Dickinson (4,588) and No. 25 Adelphi (4,338) top the standings.  

Junior Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) was the lone Daemen player to see action in all five matches today, and she finished with a team-high 176.8 average. Nowak rolled a pair of 200 games on the day. She hit 200 on the button in the Wildcats' win over Molloy, and had her best outing of the day with a 203 in the loss to Caldwell.

Senior Christina Aldridge (Webster, N.Y.) and junior Nicole Bergeron (Lima, N.Y.) were also key contributors for the Wildcats today. Aldridge fired a 199 in the win over Felician and had a scoring average of 173.7 while appearing in three matches. Bergeron also appeared in three matches and contributed a 171.3 average. Her best round of the day came against D'Youville as she rolled a 206 - the best for any Daemen player today.

Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.), Alex Hasiotis (Rochester, N.Y.) and Mollie Gizicki (Brighton, Mich.) all bowled in multiple matches today. Bartosz finished with a 169.8 average, Hasiotis with a 167.5 average and Gizicki with a 158.3 average.

Daemen resumes tournament play with Baker format matches tomorrow, beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m. when they take on St. Thomas Aquinas.
