The loss was Daemen's third straight overall as the Wildcats' record evens at 3-3 for the season. Edinboro, members of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, snapped a two-match slide and improved to 4-10 overall. It marked the first meeting between the Wildcats and Fighting Scots since the 2018-19 season when Daemen broke through for their first win in the series which dates back to the program's inaugural season (2012-13). The Wildcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match after earning victories in first and third doubles. Freshman Frida Rubio (San Diego, Calif.) and senior Christina Stasiuk (Bowmansville, N.Y.) improved to 4-2 as a pair this season, defeating Edinboro's Kaede Tada and Torye Calleja 6-3 on the first doubles court. It was also a 6-3 final on the third doubles court where DC's Mackenzie Schayes (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) and Hannah Pagano (Goshen, N.Y.) took down Lauren Chiacchia and Emily Cevera. Schayes and Pagano remain unbeaten (4-0) as a pair this season. Marina Zottele and Ana Nadai outlasted DC's Kayla Nguyen (Poway, Calif.) and Courtney Otis (Marcellus, N.Y.) in second doubles, winning 7-5 to keep the Wildcats from a sweep of doubles play. In singles play, Daemen got victories from Stasiuk and Schayes, but the match clinching point did not come. Stasiuk improved to 5-1 in singles this season by defeating Calleja 6-3, 6-4 in on the second court, increasing her career win total to 63 (combined singles and doubles). Likewise, Schayes moved to 5-1 on the season with her 6-1, 6-2 win on the fifth court over Cevera. Edinboro was able to pick up the match victory by earning points in first, third, fourth and sixth singles. Tada won her 10th consecutive singles match and improved to 12-2 this season with a 6-4, 6-1 win on the first court over Rubio. Zottele made it a personal two-point day with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Nguyen on the third court. Nadai was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Otis in fourth singles. And Anna Zak won 6-0, 6-3 over Pagano in sixth singles. Daemen returns to action tomorrow with a non-conference match vs. D'Youville beginning at noon from the Williamsville South High School courts.
