FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's volleyball team snapped a rare two-match slide by defeating host Queens College 3-1 (25-22, 25-11, 23-25, 25-14) in an East Coast Conference match this afternoon at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.
Daemen, which dropped a pair of non-conference matches to Gannon University (3-1) and The College of Saint Rose (3-1) earlier in the week, improved to 14-5 overall while keeping its unblemished conference record intact at 7-0. The Wildcats have now won 19 consecutive ECC matches dating back to the start of the 2021 season, going 56-4 in sets during that span.
Queens entered the match in a three-way tie for second place in the ECC standings. The loss snapped their three-match winning streak, moving the Knights to 9-11 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
IMPACT PLAYERS
- Graduate student Sam Logan (Eden, N.Y.) and junior Giselle Giraud (Orlando, Fla.) paced a quartet of Daemen players with double figure kills, notching 12 apiece. For Giraud, it matched her season high. Logan added a team-high 19 digs, marking her eighth double-double of the season.
- Senior Jordan Martin (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and junior Vanessa Kuliga (Glenview, Ill.) recorded 10 kills each for the Wildcats. Martin added a career-high 18 digs for her second double-double of the season. Kuliga chipped in five blocks and three service aces.
- Junior Olivia Alessi (East Aurora, N.Y.) also doubled up, finishing with 45 assists and 13 digs.
- Additional production came from senior Mickaley Monahan (Saline, Mich.) and sophomore Amelia Armstrong (River Falls, Wisc.). Monahan posted 12 digs while Armstrong added nine kills.
- Alexis Deodat was the lone Queens player with double figure kills, finishing with 13. Ryann Frontera posted a match-high 22 digs for the Knights.

GAME NOTES
- Today's win pushes the Wildcats one step closer to clinching their second straight ECC regular season title. The league's regular season champion will earn the No. 1 seed and hosting privileges for the ECC Championship tournament to be held Nov. 11-12.
- It marked Daemen's eighth consecutive win over Queens, improving to 14-4 in the all-time series. The Wildcats swept Queens in Amherst during the teams' earlier meeting this season.
- The Wildcats were without starting libero Jasmine Brundage (East Aurora, N.Y.) for a second consecutive match as she works her way back from an injury. Senior outside hitter Maggie Burns (Louisville, Ky.), the team's leader in total kills, also did not play today.
- Logan continues to progress towards 1,000 career kills. She has totaled 915 kills in 113 matches during her five-year career. Logan is looking to become the first Daemen player to reach 1,000 career kills since Amber Drzymala in 2016.
