AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's basketball team is ranked No. 20 in the first NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) Women's Basketball Media Poll for 2022-23. The poll was released this afternoon.

Daemen (2-0) opened the 2022-23 season with wins over nationally-ranked Pace and Felician this past weekend at the Redhawks Classic hosted by Roberts Wesleyan. The game between Daemen and Pace was a rematch of last year's NCAA Division II Tournament East Region final won by Pace 67-65. Pace entered the game ranked No. 22 in the WBCA Division II Top-25, while Daemen was receiving votes in the same poll.

Newcomer Paige Emborsky (Newfane, N.Y.) paced the Wildcats this past weekend. The former Niagara County Community College standout who spent the last two seasons at Division I Abilene Christian University, connected on 6-of-9 three-pointers and averaged 15.5 points over the two games. She scored a team-high 17 points in the win over Pace.

Daemen will host two teams from the Northeast-10 Conference this week. The Wildcats will square off against Le Moyne on Wednesday and Saint Michael's on Sunday. Le Moyne, which comes to town sporting a 2-0 record, is tied for third in the D2SIDA East Region poll with Chestnut Hill College.
