Angeletti and Paige Both Score 17, Wildcats Tame Huskies 66-45

BLOOMSBURG, PA – The Daemen University women's basketball team wrapped up their non-conference schedule with a 66-45 win over Bloomsburg on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats move to 4-0 to open the season for the second time in three seasons.  
 
Juniors Natalie Angeletti (Panama, N.Y.) and Alahna Paige (Rochester, N.Y.) led all scorers today, with both players scoring a season-high 17 points.
 
The Wildcats shot 47-percent from the field, banking 24-of-51 shots, and finished 33-percent from beyond the arc (6-of-18). Bloomsburg shot 16-of-48 (33-percent) from the field and 7-percent from three-point land (1-of-13).
 
Ranked second in the East Region and No. 17 in the nation, this was the final non-conference game before East Coast Conference play begins for the Wildcats. Daemen heads into their ECC slate with an undefeated 4-0 record. The Huskies move to 2-1 on the season.  

IMPACT PLAYERS
  • 17-points marks a career-high for Angeletti. She tied a season-high 8 points in the first half alone, shooting a perfect four-of-four field goals through the first two quarters. The junior forward shot 66-percent from the field (8-of-12), and led the team with seven rebounds and five assists.
  • Paige finished with a season-high 70 percent from the field, banking 7-of-10 as well as 67-percent from beyond the arc, knocking down 2-of-3 three's.  
  • Freshman guard Shyla Montgomery (Brockton, Mass.) put together a season-high performance against the Huskies, totaling eight points on a pair of field goals and a three ball. Montgomery snagged three rebounds, and recorded a steal.
  • Junior guard Kaytlyn Matz (Johnsburg, Ill.) played 30 minutes in the game, and pulled down six rebounds, five of those coming as defensive boards.
GAME NOTES
  • The Wildcats got out to a hot start, outscoring the Huskies 15-8 in the first quarter and keeping the foot on the gas to take a 33-21 lead into the half.
  • Daemen out-rebounded Bloomsburg 34 to 32, and recorded a season-high 11 steals against the Huskies. Redshirt junior guard Alina Estrella (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with three steals on the day, marking her second three-steal game this season.
  • Matz pulled down a season-high four defensive rebounds in the first half.
  • Daemen records their first win over Bloomsburg. The Wildcats came into the game with an 0-4 all-time record against the Huskies.
  • 20 of Daemen's 66 points came from the bench today.
  • The Wildcats tallied 22 points off turnovers.
  • Daemen led 95-percent of the game. The only time Bloomsburg held a lead was when they scored the first bucket of the game 30 seconds in.
