Cats Open ECC Play With 74-56 Win Over Molloy

Daemen Has Won The Last Six Matchups Against Molloy

AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's basketball team opened up 2022-23 East Coast Conference play with a 74-56 win over Molloy at Lumsden Gymnasium on Friday night. Daemen has won six-straight games against Molloy, dating back to March 8, 2020. The Wildcats remain undefeated and move to 5-0 on the season.

Donning bright yellow throwback jerseys to pay homage to the Daemen basketball teams of the late 80's and early 90's, the Wildcats shined from start to finish against the Lions. Daemen's 18-point win marks their second highest margin of victory on the season, just shy of last Sunday's 21-point win over Bloomfield. Daemen shot 40-percent from the field on the day (27-of-68), and 38-percent from beyond the arc (8-of-21).

Junior guard Gabby McDuffie (Buffalo, N.Y.) had a breakout game, shooting 50-percent from the field (6-of-12) and 33-percent for three (1-of-3) to earn a season-high 17 points. Graduate student guard Paige Emborsky (Newfane, N.Y.) tied a season-high 17 points, and shot 83-percent from beyond the arc (5-of-6) and 56-percent from the field (5-of-9).

The Wildcats are back at home on Sunday for the second game in the ECC opening weekend. Daemen plays host Queens in a matinee matchup at noon.

  • Junior forward Natalie Angeletti (Panama, N.Y.) pulled down six rebounds and a team high three-offensive rebounds. She finished with seven points (3-of-6 from the field), two steals and two assists.
