Geoff Schneider Wildcats Place 5th At Medaille Brunswick Classic Daemen posts 5-0 record on tournament's second day, sets new program record for wins in a season 2/27/2022 4:42:00 PM By: CONTACT: Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for Communications/Operations | 716-839-8385 | mmiranto@daemen.edu KENMORE, N.Y. - The Daemen women's bowling team posted a 5-0 record while wrapping up play at the Medaille Brunswick Classic today at Classic Lanes. The Wildcats knocked down 4,253 pins today and placed fifth out of seven competing teams in the tournament's total pinfall standings. Daemen finished the two-day event with a total of 8,761 pins. All five matches today were played using Baker format rules. The Wildcats opened the day with an 896-844 defeat of rival Roberts Wesleyan. An 897-748 defeat of Pitt-Bradford followed. The middle match of the day pitted Daemen against tournament host Medaille with the Wildcats pulling out a 947-923 victory. The Wildcats then avenged yesterday's loss to D'Youville, defeating the Saints 906-897. The final match saw Daemen knock off Roberts Wesleyan once again in an 862-850 final. Today's sweep sends the Wildcats' record to 42-30 this season. They have officially set a new program record for wins in a season, surpassing the 40-win benchmark set during the 2019-20 campaign. Junior Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) was named to the All-Tournament Team after totaling a team-high 1,001 pins during yesterday's traditional team matches. Bartosz ranked third among all participants in the total pinfall standings. It marks the second straight weekend that Bartosz has been the Wildcats' top performer. She was named to the All-Tournament Team at last weekend's Wildcat Division II Invitational hosted by Wilmington (Del.) after ranking fifth in the total pinfall standings and leading the Wildcats to a first-place finish as a team. Medaille posted a 6-3 record and claimed first place by totaling 9,296 pins this weekend. They were followed by second-place Mercyhurst (9,075), third-place Roberts Wesleyan (8,858) and fourth-place D'Youville (8,777). The Wildcats will return to action next weekend at their own tournament, the Daemen Classic. The tournament is being held March 5-6 at Lancaster Lanes and will feature eight competing teams. Daemen College features the premier NCAA Division II athletics program in the Buffalo-Niagara region, sponsoring 18 intercollegiate teams.
