LANCASTER, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's bowling team won four of five matches and knocked down 4,653 pins to claim third place at the Daemen Classic which wrapped up today at Lancaster Lanes. Daemen finished the two-day, 10-match tournament with a total of 8,967 pins.

All five of today's contests were played under Baker format scoring. After opening the day with a 908-870 loss to Walsh, the Wildcats swept their remaining four matches, earning two wins against D'Youville (963-857, 921-701) as well as victories over Medaille (947-902) and Roberts Wesleyan (952-889).

Today's results put the Wildcats just one win shy of 50 for the season, sitting at 49-33. The Wildcats have already eclipsed the program record for wins in a season, set in 2019-20 when they posted a 40-34 record.

Mercyhurst finished with a perfect 10-0 record in tournament play and totaled 9,641 pins to place first in the pinfall standings. Only Mercyhurst and Medaille (9,002) had a better pinfall total than the Wildcats.

In addition to the action on the lanes, student-athletes who are exhausting their career eligibility were recognized as part of a Senior Day ceremony today. That included Daemen graduate students Alex Hasiotis (Rochester, N.Y.) and Megan Kidder (Akron, N.Y.), both of whom are five-year members of the Wildcat bowling program. In that time, they've helped the Wildcats to 158 victories.

Daemen will return to action Tuesday, March 22 when visiting Penn State Behrend for a head-to-head series - their final tune-up opportunity prior to the East Coast Conference Championships which are set for March 25-27 at Coram County Lanes on Long Island.
