AMHERST, N.Y. - Marcy Colca (Getzville, N.Y.) and Skye Dorcely (Buffalo, N.Y.) of the Daemen College women's track and field team have been named to the 2022 NCAA Division II All-East Region Team by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The USTFCCCA awards All-Region honors to the top-5 individuals in each event, as well as the top-3 relay teams. The NCAA Division II East Region is comprised of teams from the East Coast Conference, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and Northeast-10 Conference.

Colca, a freshman distance runner, earned All-East Region honors for her performance in the 5,000 meters. At the ECC Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 26, Colca cruised to a first-place finish with a personal-best time of 17:45.10. Her time was 16 seconds faster than her previous best (18:01.40) and it ranks as the second fastest time in program history in the 5,000 meters. It also ranks as the third fastest time in the East Region this season, behind only Mercyline Kimaiyo of American International College (17:35.62) and Ashley Corcoran of Southern New Hampshire University (17:30.41).

This marks the second All-East Region accolade of Colca's young career. She was also a regional recipient for cross country when she placed 17th at the NCAA Division II East Region Championship held last November 6 on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College.

A junior thrower, Dorcely is an All-East Region honoree for the weight throw. Like Colca, she was a first-place finisher at the ECC Championships. Her throw of 13.73 meters topped the field and eclipsed the previous program record (13.15 meters) set earlier this season by teammate Betty Jones (Camillus, N.Y.). Dorcely's throw also ranks as the fourth longest in the East Region this season, bettered by only Stephanie Green of The College of Saint Rose (16.54 meters), Bennie Alula of SNHU (15.46 meters) and Jalynn McCowin of the University of New Haven (14.96 meters).

Colca and Dorcely are the first track and field athletes from Daemen to earn All-East Region honors for the indoor season since pole vaulter Taylor Haude did so in 2019. Colca is the first All-Region recipient for a track event since Mackenzie Donahue in 2017.
