HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The Daemen College men's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2021-22 season following a 7-2 victory over Houghton College in an inter-divisional matchup tonight at the Kerr-Pegula Field House on the Houghton campus.

NOTES
- Tonight's match was the third of 18 on Daemen's spring schedule.
- Tonight marked the first victory for first-year head coach Richard Greco, Jr., who was appointed head men's and women's tennis coach last summer. He recorded his first win with the Daemen women in the 2021-22 season-opener back on Sept. 7.
- Junior Luis de Vuyst (Antwerp, Belgium) and sophomore Sam Greco (Amherst, N.Y.) played doubles for the first time this season and cruised to an 8-2 win at first doubles. de Vuyst later improved to 2-4 in singles play following a 6-4, 6-1 win over junior Micah Schilke at No. 1 singles. Greco, who was making his first appearance this spring, picked up his first singles win of the year following a 6-3, 6-4 win over sophomore Levi Webb at No. 4 singles.
- Juniors Phillip Vance (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Zachary Laplante (Ottawa, Ont.) both posted straight-set wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively. It marked the second win of the year for Laplante and the first singles win for Vance.
- Senior Marcos Lerma Escobar (Zaragoza, Spain) saw his first action of the season tonight and would post a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.
- Daemen improved 8-0 all-time against the Highlanders.
