AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's basketball team return to Lumsden Gymnasium for the first time in 29 days and picked up a 63-48 non-conference victory over St. Michael's on Monday afternoon. The Wildcats move to 8-2 on the season with the win, St. Michael's drops to 1-9.
After a back-and-forth first half that saw the Wildcats down 23-22 at the half, Daemen put together a steady third quarter to take a six-point lead into the final quarter of play. The Wildcats outscored St. Michael's 18-9 in the fourth, shooting 71.4-percent (5-of-7) from the three-point line and 38.5-percent (5-of-13) from the field in the last quarter. Daemen finished the game 23-of-60 (38-percent) from the field and made 10-of-18 three's (56-percent).

Paige Emborsky (Newfane, N.Y.) knocked down five three-point field goals and tied a career-high 18-points, shooting 55-percent from the field (6-of-11) and 67-percent from beyond the arc (5-of-7), with four of those coming in the fourth quarter alone.
The Wildcats resume East Coast Conference play on Friday when they travel to Staten Island for a 5:30 PM matchup.
IMPACT PLAYERS
- Junior forward Natalie Angeletti (Panama, N.Y.) recorded her third career double-double this afternoon, tallying 10 points and snagging 11 rebounds. Angeletti shot 50-percent from the field (3-of-6) and 67-percent from beyond the arc (2-of-3). She led all players on the court with nine defensive boards, and added two blocks and a steal.
- Junior guard Alahna Paige (Rochester, N.Y.) finished with 11 points, shooting 67-percent from beyond the three-point line (2-of-3) and 37-percent from the field (4-of-11), as well as a team-high five assists, a steal and a defensive rebound.
- Freshman forward Claire Pikett (Holland, N.Y.) tallied a season-high five rebounds on the day, pulling down two offensive rebounds and three defensive boards. She led the team with three steals on the day, and totaled seven points.
- Junior forward Kaytlyn Matz (Johnsburg, Ill.) totaled nine points and snagged five rebounds with an assist and a steal.
GAME NOTES
- This marked the first time since Dec. 30, 2017 that the Wildcats beat St. Michael's.
- The Wildcats took a 12-10 lead at the end of the first thanks to a buzzer-beater three by Angeletti who led all scorers with six points after the first quarter of play.
- St. Michael's was 3-for-12 in three's in the first half.
- Daemen spread the ball out in the second quarter, with four different players putting up points in the quarter.
- The Wildcats shot 33-percent (9-of-27) from the field in each of the first two quarters.
- Paige scored eight points in the third quarter alone, going 3-of-4 from the field and knocking down a three.
- Daemen shot 60-percent (3-of-5) from beyond the arc in the third.
- Emborsky accounted for five of Daemen's 10 three-point field goals on the day. Angeletti and Paige both knocked down two three-pointers.
- The Wildcat bench combined for 15 points in the game, compared to just seven from St. Michael's.
- The Purple Knights out-rebounded Daemen 42 to 37, marking the second-most rebounds that a team has posted against the Wildcats this season (Le Moyne tallied 45 total rebounds on Nov. 16).
- The Wildcats set a season-low 14 turnovers this afternoon. Daemen also tallied 14 points off St. Michael's turnovers in the game.
- 10 out of Daemen's 11 players recorded a steal in the game. Pikett led the way with three steals.
