Three Wildcats Drop Double-Digit Points In 64-45 Win Over Staten Island

Women's Basketball Moves To 9-2 On The Season

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's basketball team returned to East Coast Conference action on Friday night with a 64-45 victory over Staten Island on the road. The Wildcats move to 9-2 on the season and 4-1 in conference play. The Dolphins drop to 5-9 and a 1-3 ECC record. The Wildcats have a 57-8 record in ECC action since the beginning of the 2018-19 season.

Three Wildcats notched double-digit points on the night, led by fifth-year forward Mickayla Ivy (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and graduate student guard Paige Emborsky (Newfane, N.Y.) each scoring 14 points on the day. Emborsky led or tied all Wildcat scorers for the second straight game and eighth time on the season.

After a back-and-forth first four minutes of play, Daemen went on a tear and led for the rest of the game. Even with a slower second and third quarter that saw the Dolphins and Wildcats almost equal in scoring, Staten Island could never catch up to Daemen's lead. The Wildcats shot 47-percent from the field (25-of-53) and 25-percent from beyond the arc (3-of-12), with three-machine Emborsky draining all three three-pointers for Daemen on the night.

The Wildcats are back at Lumsden Gymnasium on Wednesday, Jan. 11 when they host longtime rival Roberts Wesleyan in the battle of I-90.
