AMHERST, N.Y. -  The Daemen University men's volleyball team is ranked sixth in the Off The Block Division II Coaches Poll for week two of the 2023 season which was released earlier today. Off The Block is a website solely dedicated to the coverage of collegiate men's volleyball which conducts a Division II national poll each Wednesday.

It marks the 14th straight week that the Wildcats have been included in the poll. The Wildcats were ranked fifth in the first poll of the season released last week. The Wildcats opened the 2023 season with a 3-1 win over Princeton University, before suffering a 3-0 loss at Penn State University. PSU is ranked fourth and Princeton in receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Division I/II national poll. Daemen bounced back with a 3-0 win over Division II Independent American International College this past Saturday at Lumsden Gymnasium, extending their home-court winning streak to 11 consecutive matches.

Led by head coach Don Gleason, Daemen is now 37-9 in their last 46 matches—a span that dates back to early February, 2020. Six of the nine losses have come against Division I opponents..

Both NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II men's volleyball programs compete for the same national championship. The AVCA National Coaches Poll ranks the top 15 Division I-II men's volleyball teams and is released each Monday during the regular season.

A national voting committee comprised of coaches from the more than 25 Division II teams determines the weekly rankings for the Division II National Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats return to action this Saturday (Jan. 28) when they host Central State University. Central State is receiving votes in this week's Off The Block Division II Coaches Poll.
