Wildcats Win Two Of Five Matches During Day Two Of Destination Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Daemen University women's bowling team continued play at the Destination Orlando Invitational today. The field will consist of 18 teams, several of which are ranked nationally by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA). In addition to tournament host and 17th-ranked Sacred Heart and Daemen, the field also includes Alabama A&M, No. 2 Arkansas State, No. 22 Delaware State, No. 11 Duquesne, Emmanuel, No. 15 Fairleigh Dickinson, Florida A&M, No. 7 Jacksonville State, Monmouth, Saint Francis, No. 4 Stephen F. Austin, Texas Southern, Tulane, Alabama-Birmingham, No. 1 Vanderbilt and No. 6 Youngstown State.

Today's action featured five traditionally scored matches. The Wildcats won two of their five matches and posted a pin total of 4,411. Stephen F. Austin posted a tournament-high 5,479 pin total and sits atop the leader board after two days.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Daemen opened the day with an 780-742 win over Florida A&M University, and then battled No. 15 Fairleigh Dickinson University before suffering a 968-953 setback. The Wildcats then squared off against Florida A&M again, and this time the Rattlers came out on top, 932-873. Daemen then suffered a 1,019-851 loss to No. 11 Duquesne University. The Wildcats capped the day on a positive note, posting a 954-868 win over Texas Southern University.
  • Senior Mollie Gizicki (Brighton, Mich.) and freshman Brenna Forsha (Tonawanda, N.Y.) both participated in all five games for the Wildcats.
  • Gizicki rolled a 226 in the loss to FDU and capped the day with a 202 in the win over Texas Southern. She averaged a 190.4 over the five games.
  • Forsha posted a 214 in the loss to FDU and a team-high 171 in the win over Florida A&M. She finished with a 177.8 average over the five games.
  • Freshman Cassidy Papero (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) competed in four of the five matches. She rolled a 184 in the loss to Florida A&M and posted a 172.8 average for the day.
  • Graduate student Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) competed in three matches and rolled a 192 in the loss to Florida A&M.
  • Freshmen Sabrina Palmer (Waterloo, N.Y.) and Lydia Murphy (Williamsville, N.Y.) both saw action in two matches. Palmer posted the highest score by a Daemen bowler today, as she rolled a 243 in the win over Texas Southern. Murphy also contributed in the win over Texas Southern with a 202.
  • Sophomores Mackenzie Hutchins (Wheatfield, N.Y.), Bailey Glass (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) and Kayla Richardson (Webster, N.Y.) and freshman Chelsea Porga (Welland, Ont.) also saw action today. Hutchins took part in the loss to Duquesne and posted a 162. Glass rolled a 159 in the loss to FDU. Richardson (145) and Porga (140) both contributed to the win over Florida A&M.
