Wildcats Top Eagles 3-0 In Non-Conference Action

WATERBURY, CT – The Daemen University women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-15) non-conference victory over the Post Eagles on Friday night. With the victory, Daemen wins their fifth straight match and moves to a 12-4 record on the season, and 9-4 in non-conference matches.
 
Daemen senior right side Giselle Giraud (Orlando, Fla.) led the Wildcats with 10 kills and just two errors for a .381 hitting percentage. The Wildcats finished with 38 kills while hitting at a .345 clip, and held Post to 28 kills on the day.  

IMPACT PLAYERS
  • Giraud tallied double-digit kills for the 11th match this season. She added five digs, two assisted blocks and one ace for a match-high 12 points in the win.
  • September Female Athlete of the Month Charlotte Koerber (Munich, Germany) tallied eight kills with just one error to hit at a season-high .368 percentage. The team-leader in aces added two more to her stat line tonight, nine digs and an assisted block.
  • Fifth year senior Maggie Burns (Louisville, Ky.) finished with eight kills for a .250 hitting percentage, and added nine digs, two aces and an assisted block.
  • Senior setter Dunja Masic (McHenry, Ill.) totaled 29 assists (9.67 assists/set), six digs, three aces and two kills. 
  • Senior libero Jasmine Brundage (East Aurora, N.Y.) finished with 11 digs, three aces and three assists. 
GAME NOTES
  • The Wildcats finished with single-digit errors for the second straight match, totaling just nine errors all match. Daemen's .345 hitting percentage marks the second-highest on the season. 
  • Six Wildcats recorded kills tonight, with all players totaling multiple kills in the match. 
  • Daemen totaled double-digit aces for the seventh match, with the Wildcats combining for 11 aces on the night. Brundage and Masic led the team with three aces a piece, while Koerber and Vanessa Kuliga (Glenview, Ill.) finished with two aces on the day.
  • The Cats held Post to a .110 hitting percentage, marking the fourth-lowest hitting percentage for an opponent on the season.
  • The Wildcats have won three straight matches over the Eagles. 
UP NEXT
Daemen will resume East Coast Conference play this weekend with a pair of road matches. The Wildcats take on Mercy in a noon match on Saturday, then face first-year program St. Thomas Aquinas on Sunday at 11 AM.
