Women's Basketball Ranked Sixth In D2CSC Regional Rankings

AMHERST -- The Daemen University women's basketball team is ranked sixth in the East Region in the second D2CSC Regional Rankings. The East Region consists of the top teams from the East Coast Conference, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, and the Northeast-10 Conference. 
 
After kicking off their season to a 3-1 start, the Wildcats moved up a spot to sixth in the East. Assumption remains atop the poll with an overall record of 3-0, followed by Jefferson (4-0), Bentley (4-0), Southern New Hampshire (1-0), and Pace (3-0) as the top five teams. Daemen (3-1), Mercy (4-0), Franklin Pierce (4-1), Holy Family (3-1), and District of Columbia (4-0) round out the final five.
 
The Wildcats have picked up wins against Felician, Bloomsburg, and Millersville with their only loss coming on opening night of their season to Bentley. Throughout their four games, senior guard Alahna Paige (Rochester, N.Y.) has led the way averaging 17 points per game. Paige also leads the team with 12 assists on the season. Following behind her is sophomore forward Cecilia Lapertosa (Whitesboro, N.Y.) who averages 8.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game following a stellar freshman campaign at Queens College. Junior forward Julia Hauer (Binghamton, N.Y.) leads the Wildcats in rebounds averaging 8.5 per game. 
 
The Wildcats will continue their non-conference slate as they travel to Fort Lauderdale, F.L. to take on Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday at 2 P.M. and Nova Southeastern on Saturday at noon. Daemen will kickoff ECC play the following Saturday when they welcome rival Roberts Wesleyan to Lumsden Gymnasium at 2PM
