AMHERST, N.Y. – Graduate student Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ontario) and sophomore Marcy Colca (Getzville, N.Y.) of the Daemen University women's track and field team have both earned a spot on the 2023 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor All-East Region team. The announcement was made last week on the USTFCCCA website.

The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction.

Nolet earned all-region in both the mile and the 3,000 meters. She placed first out of 13 runners in the mile at the 2023 East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships back on Feb. 19. She overcame Acacia Barber of Roberts Wesleyan down the stretch and crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 5:08.27—eclipsing her previous best time of 5:15.42 that she set earlier this year at the YSU Mid Major Invitational. The time ranked as the fourth fastest time in the mile in the region this indoor season. The time was also just three seconds shy of the school record (5:05.54) set by Mackenzie Donahue at the 2017 Brockport Multi Invitational.

Nolet earned all-region honors in the 3,000 meters at the Brockport Multi Invitational on Feb. 4. She ran the 3,000 meters for the first time this season and placed second out of 32 runners with a personal best time of 10:33.14—eclipsing her previous time at an indoor event of 10:41.63 that she posted at the Kane Invitational last year. Her time ranked as the fourth fastest in the 3,000 meters in the region this season.

It marks the first indoor track & field USTFCCCA all-region honors for Nolet, who is a two-time (2021, 2022) all-region honoree in cross country. She ran nine races this season and placed in the top five in all nine races. She placed first in the mile at three events.

Colca would earn all-region honors after a solid showing in the 3,000 meters the Highlander Invitational on Jan. 21. She made her season debut at the event and placed second out of 24 runners with a time of 10:33.85. Her time ranked as the fifth fastest in the 3,000 meters in the region this season. It would end up being her only action of the 2022-23 indoor season, as she was sidelined by injury the rest of the way.

It marks the second indoor track & field USTFCCCA all-region honor for Colca, who earned all-region honors in the 5,000 meters last year as a freshman. She is also a two-time (2021, 2022) all-region honoree in cross country.

The Daemen women's track & field team took part in six meets during the 2022-23 indoor season and capped the year with a fifth place finish at the 2023 East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships held tonight at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, N.Y.
