The three-day event is being hosted by Adelphi University at Coram Country Lanes.Daemen is one of 10 teams in the tournament field and is seeking the first ECC title in program history. The tournament opened with five rounds of Baker format matches today, as teams competed in a round-robin style for seeding purposes. Daemen went 4-1 on the day and totaled 4,665 total pins over the five games for an average of 186.6 per game. The Wildcats earned the No. 3 seed as the tournament shifts to the double elimination format. First-round byes went to top-seeded Mercyhurst University (5,030 pins) and second-seeded Kutztown University (4,737 pins). Daemen will open double-elimination play tomorrow morning when it takes on sixth-seeded Bryant University. Daemen opened the day with three-straight wins over Bryant (965-899), Roberts Wesleyan University (951-925) and St. Thomas Aquinas College (932-696), before suffering an 863-805 loss to Molloy University. The Wildcats capped the day with a 1,012-567 win over Adelphi University—marking the sixth time this season the Wildcats have eclipsed the 1,000-pin mark during a match. Daemen now stands at 45-30 on the year. The Wildcats have reached the 40-win plateau for the third time in program history and are five wins shy of reaching 50 wins for the second-straight season. The tournament resumes tomorrow at 8 a.m. Daemen's tournament matches will be streamed on the team's Facebook page.
