SVU is a NCAA Division III affiliate and a member of the USA South Conference. SVU returns seven players from last year's team that went 11-4 overall and 7-2 in USA South play. Today's match marked the first ever meeting between Daemen and SVU. The host Knights have now won four of their last six matches and improved to 6-3 on the year. Daemen dropped to 4-11. The match was played using NCAA Division III scoring rules. SVU prevailed in two of the three doubles matches and took a 2-1 lead into singles play. Sophomore Kitsa Scime (Williamsville, N.Y.) and senior Mackenzie Schayes (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) picked up singles wins for Daemen, but it was not enough as the Knights took four of the six singles matches to secure the win. Scime improved to 12-6 in singles play on the year after posting a 6-3, 6-0 win over sophomore Campbell Bueler at No. 2 singles. Schayes outlasted freshman Grace Howell (6-0, 4-6, 6-2) to earn her fifth singles win of the year. Scime is now 15-7 in her last 22 singles matches dating back to the end of last season. She has moved into the Top-10 in both combined singles and doubles wins (34) and career singles victories (20) among Daemen's all-time leaders.
