Clean Sweep: Women's Soccer Takes Home All Three ECC Honors This Week Miranto, Schultz and Carpenter All Honored After Leading Daemen To A 2-0-1 Week 9/25/2023 3:48:00 PM By: CONTACT: Tom McDermott, Director of Athletics Communications | tmcdermo@daemen.edu AMHERST, N.Y. – Daemen University women's soccer players Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.), Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) and Magda Carpenter (Lebanon, Conn.) have all been honored by the East Coast Conference for their play last week. Miranto was selected the ECC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season. Schultz was named the ECC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week, while Carpenter was named ECC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the first time. The announcement of award winners was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon. It is the second time in the past two seasons that Daemen has swept all three major weekly awards. Daemen also swept the awards back on Oct. 31, 2022, and that was the first time since September of 2018 that one school has swept all three major weekly awards. It is the second career major weekly award for Miranto, who was selected ECC Rookie of the Week once last year. She scored at least one goal in all three games last week, recorded two game-winning goals and totaled four goals and nine points for the week. She netted Daemen's lone goal in a 1-1 draw at Chestnut Hill College and totaled two goals and an assist in a 6-1 win over the College of Staten Island. She capped the week with the game-winner in a 2-0 win over Lake Erie College. Miranto has started all seven games this season, is tied for the ECC lead in goals (5) and ranks second in points (11). Schultz stopped 25 of 27 shots on goal during the week. She made a career-high 12 saves in the 1-1 tie at Chestnut Hill and recorded 11 saves in the win over Staten Island. She capped the week with two saves in the 2-0 win over Lake Erie, her second shutout of the season. She has played every minute in goal this season and leads the ECC in save percentage (.845). She also ranks second in total saves with 49. Carpenter recorded at least one point in all three games and totaled two goals and two assists on the week. She assisted on Daemen's lone goal in the 1-1 draw at Chestnut Hill and registered two goals--the first multi-goal game of her career--in the win over Staten Island. She capped the week with an assist in the 2-0 win over Lake Erie. A product of Lyman Memorial High School, she has started all seven games this season and ranks second on the team in goals (3) and points (8). Her two assists are tied for the team lead. Daemen is unbeaten (3-0-1) in its last four games and stands at 3-3-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the ECC. The Wildcats are idle until Sunday when they play a conference match at Lincoln (Pa.) University.
