Women's Bowling Defeats Florida A&M During Day Two of the Destination Florida Tournament

ORLANDO, FLA. – The Daemen University women's bowling team picked up their first win of the weekend yesterday, defeating Florida A&M University during day two of the Destination Florida Tournament, hosted by Sacred Heart University.
 
Yesterday's action featured five traditionally scored matches with the Wildcats posting a total pinfall of 4,222.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
• Daemen opened day two with one of their hardest tests of the year, facing three-time national champion #4 Vanderbilt. The Commodores emerged victorious, 1032-878, in just the third meeting between the two schools. The Wildcats rebounded in their next match, taking down Florida A&M, 803-627, for their first win on the weekend. Daemen then battled #6 North Carolina A&T but fell, 925-811, before they dropped a 910-861 decision to RV Monmouth. The Wildcats ended the day against Alabama A&M in the third meeting between the two sides and lost in a nailbiter, 889-869.
• The Cats win against Florida A&M was their second in five meetings and first since a 780-742 win back on Oct. 28, 2023, during the Destination Orlando Tournament.
• Graduate student Mollie Gizicki (Brighton, Mich.) and junior Mackenzie Hutchins (Wheatfield, N.Y.) were the only two bowlers to appear in all five matches. Gizicki posted an average of 179.0 while Hutchins averaged 174.6 to pace the Blue and White.
• For Gizicki, she knocked down 220 pins against RV Monmouth, the most of any Daemen bowler in a single match on day two.
• Sophomores Brenna Forsha (Tonawanda, N.Y.) and Cassidy Papero (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) each played in four matches. Forsha averaged 163.5 pins, highlighted by a 201 pin outing against #4 Vanderbilt. As for Papero, she amassed an average of 167.5 pins in her four appearances.
• Junior Bailey Glass (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) posted an average of 169.3 across three matches, highlighted by a 200 pin outing against RV Monmouth.
• Reigning two-time ECC Rookie of the Week Cassandra Westphal (Spencerport, N.Y.) totaled 120 pins against Florida A&M and 179 pins versus Alabama A&M in her two appearances on Saturday.
• Junior Kayla Richardson (Webster, N.Y.) and sophomore Chelsea Porga (Welland, Ont.) each played in one match with Richarson totaling 184 pins against #6 North Carolina A&T and Porga knocking down 139 pins versus RV Monmouth.
