FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's tennis team saw their fall season come to an end with a 4-0 loss to top-seeded Queens College in the 2024 East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Championship tournament Friday afternoon at the Queens College Tennis Bubble.
The Wildcats ended their fall campaign with an overall record of 9-5 while the Knights improved to 5-1.
The Cats nine wins through the fall are a program record for wins during their fall slate and sit one short of the program record for overall wins in a season with ten, which was set during the 2017-18 campaign. Today also marked the fifth consecutive appearance in the ECC Women's Tennis Championship for Daemen as well.
Queens opened the contest by sweeping all three double matches to secure the first point of the day. The Knights continued to roll in singles action with identical 6-0, 6-0 wins on No. 4 and No. 5 singles before Queens junior Regina Ruiz won, 6-2, 6-0, on No. 6 singles to secure the 4-0 win. The matches at No. 1, 2 and 3 singles went unfinished as a result. With the victory, Queens advanced to the final round where they'll meet St. Thomas Aquinas College tomorrow.
