ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Molloy University scored twice in the second half to defeat Daemen University, 2-0, in East Coast Conference men's soccer action Saturday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field.
With the win, the Lions improved to 4-4-1 overall and 2-0-1 in ECC play while the Wildcats dropped to 3-4-2 and 0-3-1 in conference action.
HIGHLIGHTS
• After a scoreless first half, the Wildcats nearly struck first in the 53
rd minute with graduate student
Dennis Montero Guerrero (Weingarten, Germany) and senior
Rayane Baitiche (Thionville, France) firing two shots in quick succession on net, but both were stopped the Lions Callum Hunt to keep the match scoreless.
• Molloy's Sean Salguerio broke the deadlock in the 55
th minute as he collected a ball from Max Hancock off a corner kick and found the back of the net.
• The Lions got one more goal with three seconds in the contest left as Brennan Murphy collected a misplayed ball and scored on a breakaway opportunity.
• Senior
Arturo Bustamante (South Gate, Calif.) made three saves while Hunt made two saves for his fourth win of the year. Both goalies played the full 90 minutes as well.
• Molloy edged Daemen in shots, 11-6, and in corners, 7-4.

• The Lions now lead the all-time series, 9-2.
