Women's Bowling Nabs a Pair of Wins During Day One of the Niagara Brunswick Fall Open

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's bowling team earned a pair of wins during day one of the Niagara Brunswick Fall Open, hosted by nearby Niagara University.
 
Today's action featured five traditionally scored matches with the Wildcats posting a total pinfall of 3,984.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
• Daemen opened the day with back-to-back wins, defeating Penn State Behrend, 805-800 and Pitt-Bradford, 869-758.
• In their third match of the day, Daemen and Bryant, who topped the 2024-25 East Coast Conference Women's Bowling Preseason Coaches' Poll, needed to go to a tiebreaker after being deadlocked, 807-807. The Bulldogs edged the Wildcats by three pins in the tiebreaker to escape with an 880-877 win. The Blue and White ended the day with an 833-718 setback to Roberts Wesleyan and 813-785 loss to Hilbert.
• Chelsea Porga (Welland, Ontario), Kayla Richardson (Webster, N.Y.), Cassidy Papero (Cheektowaga, N.Y. ) and Mollie Gizicki (Brighton, Mich.) represented the four Daemen bowlers to appear in all five matches. Gizicki led the pack with a 181.2 average and the most pins knocked down in a single contest with 219 against Penn State Behrend.
• Two-time ECC Rookie of the Week Cassandra Westphal (Spencerport, N.Y. ) appeared in the Cats first three matches of the day and posted an average of 158.
• Bailey Glass (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) bowled in the Wildcats final two matches of day one. She knocked down 166 pins for Daemen against Roberts Wesleyan, the most of any Wildcats bowler against the Redhawks.
