Bill Tabbed ECC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

AMHERST, N.Y. - For the first time in his career, redshirt sophomore center Benjamin Bill (Hamburg, N.Y.) of Daemen University was tabbed the East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. 

Bill is the second member of the Wildcats to be named earn the weekly honor this season, joining redshirt senior forward Justin Hemphill (Buffalo, N.Y.) who was awarded on Nov. 18. 

The Hamburg, N.Y., native dropped a career-high 25 points in No. 14/ No. 11 Daemen's 111-77 win over No. 10/No. 10 California (Pa.) on Nov. 26. Bill shot a near perfect 11-of-13 (.846) from the floor, his second highest field goal percentage of the season, and added in six rebounds and two assists to keep Daemen's undefeated record intact at 5-0. Bill also helped secure the Wildcats' first win over a top-10 ranked team since topping No. 4/No. 3 West Liberty, 98-83, on Nov. 16, 2019. 

Through five games, Bill currently leads the ECC and is ranked sixth nationally for field goal percentage at .712, 41st nationally and third in the league for offensive rebounds per game with 3.0 and is ranked fifth in the conference for points per game with an average of 16.2.

The Wildcats are back in action on Dec. 6 when they head on the road to face the College of Staten Island in their first ECC game of the year.
