Alahna Paige (Rochester, N.Y.) led the Wildcats offensively with a career-high 31 points. The East Coast Conference leading-Wildcats move to 13-5 on the season and 8-1 in ECC play on the year, while D'Youville drops to 8-12 overall and 6-4 in ECC games.
After a back-and-forth start to the first quarter, the Wildcats dominated for the final 30 minutes of the game, outscoring the Saints 60 to 46. Daemen shot exceptionally well beyond the arc, finishing 13-of-26 (50%) on the day beyond the arc. The Cats shot 44% (27-of-61) from the field and knocked down 13-of-15 from the free throw stripe. Four Daemen players finished with double-digit points.
The Wildcats hits the road next weekend for their final road double header, taking on Staten Island on Friday, Feb. 9 and District of Columbia on Sunday, Feb. 11.
IMPACT PLAYERS
- Paige led the Wildcats offensively for the 12th game this season with a career-high 31 points after shooting 42% (8-of-19) from the field, 46% (6-of-13) from beyond the arc and a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe. The senior guard pulled down seven defensive rebounds and added three assists and two steals.
- Sophomore forward Claire Pikett (Holland, N.Y.) totaled 14 points, shooting 71% (5-of-7) from the field and knocking down both triples. Pikett added five defensive rebounds and one block.
- Senior forward Natalie Angeletti (Panama, N.Y.) posted 10 points after shooting 4-of-8 (50%) from the field and going 2 for 2 beyond the arc. She led the Wildcats defensively with eight rebounds – including pulling down a team-high four o-boards – and tallied an assist.
- Sophomore guard Shyla Montgomery (Brockton, Mass.) posted a season-high 10 points after banking 4-of-5 from the field. She led the way with six assists and added two rebounds and a block.
- Senior guard Gabby McDuffie (Buffalo, N.Y.) totaled eight points, shooting 2-of-4 from beyond the arc and 3-of-10 from the field. McDuffie doled out five assists and added two rebounds and a steal.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Banker is now 200-126 in her coaching career. In her eighth season as the Wildcats' bench boss, Banker has compiled a 133-65 overall record including a 91-30 ECC record as head coach.
- The Saints opened the game with a bucket, but Daemen immediately responded with a big three from Paige to take an early lead. The Saints and Wildcats traded points for the entire first quarter, with Daemen taking a 20-15 lead after the first 10 minutes of play.
- The Wildcats shot 47% from the field (7-of-15) and 71% (5-of-7) from beyond the arc. Paige led all players with six first-quarter points after banking a pair of triples.
- Daemen opened the second quarter with a commanding 10-4 lead over the Saints after knocking down two triples from Paige and a pair of field goals from Pikett and Lapertosa to take an 11-point lead, 30-19, over D'Youville. The Cats would keep up the intensity into the break, outscoring the Saints 20-12 in the second to take a 40-27 lead at the half.
- The senior duo of Angeletti and Paige paced the Cats with Paige leading all players with 12 points and Angeletti adding 10 first-half points of her own. Through two quarters, the Wildcats shot 43% from the field (15-of-35) and 60% (9-of-15) from beyond the arc. D'Youivlle shot 28% (9-of-32) from the field in the first half and 31% (4-of-13) from three.
- The Cats kicked off the second half on a 10-4 run and continued into the end of the quarter with a 63-42 lead over the Saints. Daemen outscored D'Youville 23-15 in the third with Paige yet again leading the way with 13 third-quarter points.
- D'Youville closed out the game outscoring the Cats 19-17 down the stretch after knocking down 4-of-6 triples, their most in the game, but the Saints couldn't come close to catching up to the Wildcats who led by as much as 23 points in the fourth quarter.
- Daemen's 80 points marks the second-highest outing for the Wildcats this season. The Wildcats scored 81 points against Roberts Wesleyan in their ECC opener in December.
- The Wildcats tied their season-best three point field goal percentage (50%) today, and tied the most triples in a game (13) this season.
