It marked the regular season finale for both teams. Daemen, which entered the game tied for sixth in this week's NCAA regional committee East Region poll, ran its winning streak to six games and improved to 22-7 overall and 12-4 in the East Coast Conference. The Redhawks, who had won four of their last five games, dropped to 12-12 overall and 9-7 in the league. Both teams have qualified for the six team ECC Championship tournament and both will host quarterfinal games on Wednesday (Mar. 6). Daemen is seeded third and will host sixth-seeded Queens College. RWU is seeded fourth and will host fifth-seeded District of Columbia. Top-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas College and second-seeded College of Staten Island earned first round byes. STAC will host the tournament semifinals and championship next weekend. IMPACT PLAYERS Daemen finished with four players in double figures. Fasoyiro, who scored all of Daemen's first 17 points of the game, drilled five three-pointers and also contributed eight rebounds and two steals. Freshman Zach Philipkoski (New Hartford, N.Y.) totaled 14 points and seven rebounds in just 15 minutes off the bench. Sophomore point guard Justin Glover (Buffalo, N.Y.) added 13 points, seven assists, two steals and just one turnover. Senior Andrew Mason (Webster, N.Y.) added 12 points, while senior Justin Hemphill (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored six points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and dished out four assists. Junior Kevin Constant scored 20 points for the Redhawks, while senior Malik Brooks hit four three-pointers and finished with 17 points. GAME NOTES Daemen has prevailed in nine straight and 29 of the last 30 meetings between the two schools. Daemen owns a 51-12 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to the 1997-98 season. Daemen has reached 20 wins for the sixth-straight season. The streak does not include the 2020-21 season, as Daemen only played 16 games during that COVID-10 shortened 2020-21 season. Daemen's six-game winning streak ranks as the longest winning streak for the Wildcats this season. Daemen has averaged 95 points and has outscored its opponents by an average of 16 points over the six games. Roberts scored the first five points of the game, and the hosts later took a 12-6 lead following a bucket by senior Marlon Pratt, Jr. at the 16:27 mark of the first half. Daemen answered with a 16-3 run and took a 22-15 lead following a bucket by Hemphill with 9:16 left before halftime. Fasoyiro scored 11 points during the run. The lead later grew to 20 points, 39-19, after Mason drilled a triple with 2:30 left before halftime and the Wildcats would take a 43-22 lead into intermission. The Daemen lead grew to 24 points, 49-25, early in the second half, before the Redhawks put together a 25-11 run and cut the deficit to 10 points, 60-50. Daemen regained a 15-point lead, 68-53, following a conventional three-point play by Fasoyiro with 9:19 left, but the Redhawks rallied once again and eventually cut the lead to six points, 75-69, after Pratt drilled a three-pointer with 2:25 left. Glover answered with a clutch three-pointer on Daemen's next possession and the Redhawks came no closer than seven points down the stretch. Daemen shot just 39-percent (28-71) from the field overall, but made 10-of-29 from downtown. The Wildcats also canned 21-of-23 free throws. RWU shot 56-percent (19-of-34) from the field in the second half and finished 28-of-58 (48%) overall. The Redhawks made 10 three-pointers in the second half and went 13-of-28 from downtown overall. The hosts connected on 7-of-12 from the charity stripe.
