Wildcats Place Fourth At Dezy Strong Classic

FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Daemen University women's bowling competed at the Dezy Strong Classic hosted by Adelphi University today at Jib Lanes. The Wildcats posted the fourth highest overall total pinfall (4,337) of the six teams. Long Island University finished first with 4,666 total pins, followed by Molloy University (4,645), Wagner (4,506), Daemen, Adelphi (4,171) and St. Thomas Aquinas College (3,533).

Today's event was part the Charity Invitational weekend. The same six teams will take part in the Bowlers to Veterans Link tomorrow, which will be hosted by Molloy.

Today's action featured five traditionally scored matches. Daemen faced off against Molloy in the first round and suffered a 909-818 loss. The Wildcats then suffered close losses to LIU (992-997), Wagner (896-892) and Adelphi (871-826), before capping the day with an 832-704 win over St. Thomas Aquinas. Daemen now stands at 39-30 on the year.
 
Senior Mollie Gizicki (Brighton, Mich.) competed in all five matches and totaled 939 pins (187.8 average), which ranked sixth among bowlers that competed in all five matches. She rolled a 247 against LIU and a 194 against Adelphi.

Graduate student Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) also took part in all five matches and totaled 915 pins for a 183.0 average. She posted a 213 against Wagner.

Freshman Brenna Forsha (Tonawanda, N.Y.) and sophomore Bailey Glass (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) both competed in four matches. Forsha and totaled 684 pins for a 171 average. She posted a 180 in the loss to LIU. Glass totaled 655 pins (166.25 average) and rolled a 192 against LIU.

Freshmen Sabrina Palmer (Waterloo, N.Y.) and Cassidy Papero (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) competed in three matches. Palmer totaled 507 pins and rolled a 187 against Wagner. Papero totaled 453 pins and posted a 168 in the win over STAC. Senior Emma Smith (Williamsville, N.Y.) took part in the win over STAC and rolled a 174.
