Women's Bowling Sits In Sixth Place After Day 1 Of ECC Championship

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen University women's bowling team opened play at the 2024 East Coast Conference Championship today. The three-day event is being hosted by Roberts Wesleyan University at AMF Dewey Garden Lanes. Daemen is one of nine teams in the tournament field and is seeking the first ECC title in program history.

The tournament opened with five rounds of Baker format matches today, as teams competed in a round-robin style for seeding purposes. Daemen went 1-3 in head-to-head play and also had a bye match where total pinfall was counted. The Wildcats totaled 4,414 total pins over the five games for an average of 176.6 per game. The Wildcats earned the No. 6 seed as the tournament shifts to the double elimination format. Daemen will open double elimination play against third-seeded Mercyhurst University (4,622 pins) tomorrow morning. Bryant University (4,741 pins) earned the No. 1 seed, while Molloy (4,625), Mercyhurst, Kutztown (4,538) and Roberts Wesleyan (4,534) rounded out the top five.

Daemen opened the day with three-straight losses to Bryant (943-850), Roberts Wesleyan (954-952) and Kutztown (951-857). The Wildcats totaled 933 pins during their bye match and closed the day with an 813-794 win over Adelphi. Daemen now stands at 44-34 on the year. The Wildcats have reached the 40-win plateau for the fourth time in program history.
