Wildcats Drop Third NEC Match Of The Year With 3-1 Loss To LIU

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Daemen University men's volleyball team dropped a Northeast Conference match to the LIU Sharks, 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-27, 22-25) on Friday night. The Wildcats drop their third straight match and fall to 13-6 on the year and 6-3 in NEC play. Daemen wraps up their road trip on Saturday at FDU at 1 PM.
 
The Wildcats out-killed LIU 56 to 48 but hit .271 on the night. Fifth year outside hitter Zach Schneider (Lockport, N.Y.) led the way with 20 kills while senior opposite Cameron Milligan (Pavilion, N.Y.) added 15 kills for the Wildcats. LIU's Livan Moreno and Eddy Alexandre added 17 and 15 kills, respectively, for the Sharks.
 
IMPACT PLAYERS
  • Schneider led the Wildcats offensively for the 14th match this season, finishing with 20 kills on 37 attacks for a .324 hitting percentage. The fifth year posted his first double-double (kills-digs) of the season with 10 digs and added four aces and two block assists on the night for a match-high 25 points.
  • Milligan totaled 15 kills on 31 attacks to hit at a .323 clip, adding seven digs and two block assists.
  • Middles Maverick O'Neill (East Amherst, N.Y.) and Ondrej Arabasz (Jicin, Czech Republic) each totaled seven kills on the night. O'Neill totaled two block assists while Arabasz added four block assists.
  • Fifth year setter Sean Califf (Oak Park, Ill.) totaled 48 assists, four kills, seven digs and four block assists on the night.
  • Junior outside hitter Billy Wieberg (Grand Island, N.Y.) finished with 10 digs, three digs, two assists, one ace and three block assists.
GAME NOTES
  • The Wildcats, who came into Friday night's match ranked second in the NEC at 6-2 in conference play after falling to Saint Francis in a pair of matches last weekend, drop to 6-3 and sit tied with LIU in second place.
  • Daemen moves to 4-2 all-time against the Sharks.

Daemen will face FDU on Saturday at 1 PM in their final NEC road match of the season.
