Men's Soccer Falls on Senior Day

AMHERST, N.Y. — Daemen fell to the College of Staten Island 5-1 on senior day Saturday at Royal Park. The Dolphins scored three goals in the first half, establishing a commanding lead.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Dolphins capitalized on their chances early, scoring in the 15th minute through William Lopez, assisted by Tai Torres, and again in the 21st minute when Peterson Larose found the net with help from Badr Mesrar, making 2-0 CSI.
  • Staten Island extended its lead in the 40th minute with a goal by Koray Arslan, assisted by Larose.
  • The second half began with the Dolphins adding another in the 48th minute with a goal by Larose, pushing the score to 4-0.
  • Daemen responded with increased pressure, notably when Joey Jenkins (Tonawanda, N.Y.) found the back of the net in the 65th minute, assisted by Axel Lozoya (Santa Fe, N.M.), narrowing the deficit to 4-1.
  • However, CSI quickly countered with another goal just two minutes later, re-establishing a four-goal lead at 5-1.
  • The opening half saw Daemen create early opportunities with shots from Yves Sisse (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Selim Ozleplebici (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), but both attempts went wide. Daemen continued to press forward, earning multiple corner kicks.
  • Goalkeeper Colin Hockridge (Scarborough, Ont.) made a key save on a shot from Nicolo Cimini later in the half.
  • Daemen continued to push forward, with Lozoya generating multiple shooting opportunities, though several shots were saved by CSI's goalkeeper, Luca Schelling.
  • Despite consistent offensive efforts and maintaining pressure until the end of the half, the score remained 5-1 as the game concluded.
