Women's Bowling Set for Hilbert Hammer Classic

BACK IN ACTION
The Daemen University women's bowling team is back in action for the final time this fall, competing at the Hilbert Hammer Classic on Saturday and Sunday. This is the first year of the tournament but will feature familiar opponents for the Wildcats. 

TOURNAMENT INFO
The two-day tournament begins on Saturday, when the Wildcats take on Saint Vincent, Mercyhurst, tournament host Hilbert, Niagara, and Roberts Wesleyan. On Sunday, the Wildcats will face William Smith and D'Youville, as well as rematches against  Niagara and Mercyhurst. 

LAST TIME OUT
Daemen last competed at the Niagara Brunswick Fall Open on Nov. 1-2.  The Wildcats went 3-7 at the tournament. During the first day of traditional matches, Daemen picked up a win over Pitt-Bradford in its first competition of the day, defeating the Panthers 903-714. Individually, Sabrina Palmer (Waterloo, N.Y.) led the Wildcats, posting an average score of 196.50. Cassidy Papero (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) finished with a 180.80 average, while Brenna Forsha (Tonawanda, N.Y.) was right behind her with a 180.40 average. On Day 2 of the tournament, Daemen defeated D'Youville 928-862 and Penn State Behrend 920-787 in Baker Format matches. Junior Brenna Forsha (Tonawanda, N.Y.) led Daemen with an 18.18 Baker Average.

ECC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Palmer was named to the ECC Weekly Honor Roll on Nov. 6, following Daemen's matches at the Niagara Open. Palmer led the Wildcats during the traditional matches at the Niagara Fall Open, posting an average score of 196.50. The junior recorded 26 strikes and helped Daemen defeat Pitt-Bradford on the first day. She also helped the Wildcats to victories over D'Youville and Penn State Behrend on Day 2.

BY THE NUMBERS
Through this point in the season, Forsha is the team leader in strikes (121) and strike percentage (40.3%). Right behind her is Palmer, who has thrown 117 strikes and posted a strike percentage of 38.7%. Both bowlers have completed over 140 frames for the Wildcats this season. Hutchins is the team leader in spares (130). 
UP NEXT
The Wildcats are off until January, when they resume action at the Northeast Classic in New Castle, Del., being hosted by Sacred Heart.
