AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's basketball team dropped their first East Coast Conference game of the season in a 67-58 loss to crosstown rival D'Youville University on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats, who claimed their sixth consecutive ECC Regular Season title last weekend, snap their 10-game win streak and move to 18-7 overall and 14-1 in ECC play.

Danielle DiCintio (Somers, N.Y.) led the Wildcats offensively with 22 points on the day while three Saints totaled 15 points in D'Youville's victory.
IMPACT PLAYERS
- DiCintio played all 40 minutes and scored a season-tying high 22 points after shooting 53% from the field (8-of-15) and 55% beyond the arc (5-of-9) while leading the Cats defensively with nine rebounds – two offensive – one block and one assist.
- Junior forward Cecilia Lapertosa (Whitesboro, N.Y.) finished with 11 points after going 4-of-10 from the field and added seven rebounds – three O boards – along with a team-high five assists and one steal.
- Junior guard Claire Pikett (Holland, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Sophie Auer (Lewiston, N.Y.) each finished with eight points after they both shot 4-of-12 from the field and both added four rebounds. Pikett finished with three blocks and three steals while Auer totaled three steals and two assists.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- After Daemen scored the first bucket of the game, D'Youville scored 15 straight points and took a 15-6 lead after the first quarter. The Saints led by as much as 15 points four minutes into in the second quarter, but Daemen mounted a comeback and finished off the half on a 16-7 run to make it a six-point game at the break, trailing 28-22.
- The Saints opened the third quarter with a three-point play, but from there the Cats went on a 9-3 run to bring it within two points, 34-32. In the final five minutes of the quarter, D'Youville narrowly outscored Daemen 11-8 after shooting 5-of-8 from the field. The Wildcats trailed 45-40 after three quarters.
- D'Youville stretched the lead to 10 in the first three minutes of the fourth after outscoring Daemen 7-2 to open the final quarter of play. After a pair of layups from Auer and Ne'vaeh Buntley (Rochester, N.Y.) and a free throw from DiCintio, Daemen again brought the game within five, 52-47, but D'Youville scored the next five to make it a 10-point game yet again. Daemen outscored D'Youville 9-5 over three minutes of gameplay, and a Pikett layup with 40 seconds left brought the Wildcats within four, 62-58, but D'Youville closed out the game with five free throws to take down the Cats, 67-58 and hand Daemen their first loss of conference play.
