BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Daemen University women's bowling team placed eighth at the Niagara Brunswick Spring Classic which took place from Feb. 22 - 23. No. 24 Mercyhurst won the tournament.
Additionally, graduate student
Mollie Gizicki was tabbed to the all-tournament team as well after posting a top five pinfall average.
DAY ONE
• All four matches on day one were played using traditional format.
• Daemen fell to tournament hosts Niagara, 905-808, in their first match of the day.
• The 'Cats rebounded over their next two games with an 882-840 win over crosstown rival D'Youville and 890-845 win over Bryant.
• Gizicki led Daemen in total pinfall with 237 pins against D'Youville while junior
Bailey Glass (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) tallied a team-best 209 pins versus Bryant.
• Penn State Behrend got the best of Daemen in the last match of the day for both teams with a 899-865 win over the 'Cats.
• Gizicki led all Daemen bowlers with a 198.4 total pinfall average to land all-tournament honors.
DAY TWO
• Four matches were played using Baker Format while the final game of the day was played using Baker Format best-of-seven scoring.
• The Wildcats split their first two matches of the day, losing to No. 24 Mercyhurst, 895-876, but defeated Pitt Bradford, 972-856.
• Against No. 19 Merrimack, the highest ranked opponent Daemen played all weekend, the 'Cats commanded an early 387-377 lead after two games. The Warriors won the next three games to win, 925-861.
• The Wildcats collected a 943-803 victory over William Smith in their ninth match of the day. In all but one game against William Smith, Daemen knocked down 150-or-more pins.
• Daemen drew Roberts Wesleyan in their final match of the day. After splitting the first two games, the Redhawks rattled back-to-back wins to command a 3-1 series lead. Daemen staved off the loss with a 184-180 win in game five, but the Redhawks sealed the 4-2 series win with a 183-168 victory in the sixth and final game.

Daemen will compete in the Roberts Wesleyan Invitational on March 1.
