AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen University men's volleyball team topped Roberts Wesleyan 3-1 (25-15, 25-23, 25-27, 25-15) on Wednesday night to win their third straight match and move to 3-2 on the year. The Redhawks drop to 4-5 overall with the loss.
Daemen outhit Roberts 41 to 28 and held the Redhawks to hit at a .010 clip while the Wildcats hit .194 on the night. Eight different Wildcats recorded kills in the win with graduate student outside hitter
Zach Schneider (Lockport, N.Y.) again leading the Cats offensively with 12 kills.
The Wildcats will take the short jaunt to the campus of D'Youville University on Saturday to play Rockhurst University in a neutral site non-conference game at 12 PM.

IMPACT PLAYERS
- Schneider totaled 12 kills on 21 attacks with zero errors to hit at a match-high .571 on the night. Playing in his 100th career match, Schneider added five digs, three aces, two block assists, one solo block and one assist on the night for 17 points in the win.
- Redshirt freshman right side Patrick Mullen (Farmingdale, N.J.) totaled seven kills on 17 attacks while adding four digs and an ace on the night.
- Playing in just three sets tonight, Billy Wieberg (Grand Island, N.Y.) finished with six kills on 13 attacks for a .308 hitting percentage along with four aces, five digs, one block assist and one assist.
- Sophomore middle blocker Ondrej Arabasz (Jicin, Czech Republic) posted a match-high seven block assists, six kills, four digs and one ace.
- Sophomore setter Jariel Giraud (Orlando, Fla.) finished with 32 assists, six digs, five block assists, two solo blocks, one kill and one ace.
- Junior libero Kyle Zelasko (West Seneca, N.Y.) tied a season-high 11 digs in the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Redhawks played the Wildcats close in the first set, keeping it within one to 15-14, but from there, the Cats took advantage of Roberts mistakes and the next four points to take a five-point lead, 19-14. Daemen won the last six points of the set to take the first, 25-15 after totaling just seven kills but adding seven blocks in the first set.
- The Wildcats and Redhawks again started the second close, with the teams tied up at 11, and it stayed tight throughout the set. After the Cats took a 16-13 lead, the Redhawks went on a 10-8 run to make it a one-point game at Daemen's set point, 24-23, but the Wildcats capped off the set with a kill from Wieberg to take the second, 25-23.
- Roberts Wesleyan led for the majority of the third and took a 19-15 lead over the Wildcats late. Following a Daemen timeout, a Schneider kill brought it within three, and it would stay like that until Roberts' setpoint, 24-21. Daemen scored the next three points to tie the game up at 24 and following a Daemen service error, the Cats again spoiled setpoint and tied it up at 25 with a kill from Mullen. Roberts would win the final two points to take the third, 27-25, and force a fourth set for the first time between these two teams.
- Daemen got off to a hot start in the fourth after dropping their first ever set against the Redhawks and took a 10-5 lead early off five Wildcat kills. Daemen cruised to a 25-15 third set victory after out-hitting the Redhawks 11 to 4 in the fourth set.
GAME NOTES
- Today marked the 100th career match for Zach Schneider. The graduate student ranks second all-time in Daemen's history books for most matches played behind only current assistant coach and former Wildcat Michael Krueger.
- Daemen was selected second in the 2025 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Wildcats are the reigning NEC Tournament champions.
- Daemen excelled at the block tonight, out-blocking the Redhawks 14 to 6. The Cats compiled 16 block assists and six solo blocks in the win.
- The match was riddled with errors tonight. Daemen totaled 52 errors including 25 service errors, while the Redhawks finished with 59 errors including 27 attack errors.
- Redshirt sophomores Peter Leicht (Brockport, N.Y.) and Eddie Kwarciak (Grand Island, N.Y.) made their collegiate debuts today. Leicht recorded a solo block and a dig while Kwarciak had one kill and one assist.
