ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen University men's track & field team commenced their outdoor portion of their schedule at the Redhawk Invitational, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan.
Junior
Adam Kamagate (Hilton, N.Y.) and sophomore
Owen Dernbach (Alden, N.Y.) finished first in the 110 meter hurdles and long jump respectively to highlight the Wildcats efforts in their season-opening meet.
HIGHLIGHTS:
• Beginning at the jump pit, Dernbach started his outdoor season on the right foot as he claimed first in the long jump with a distance of 6.19m. He was not the only member of the Wildcats to finish in the top three as sophomore
Tyler Prescott (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) placed third (6.09m).
• On the track, Kamagate carried his success from the indoor season over to the outdoor portion of the schedule as he placed first in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.66 seconds, good for second all-time. All three of the fastest times in program history for the 110 meter hurdles were recorded by Kamagate as well.
• Sophomore
CJ Johnson posted a second place finish in the 1500 meters with a final time of 4:11.91.
• In the same race, sophomore
Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio) placed within the top five as he finished fifth (4:22.18).
• Graduate student
John Jaworski (Naperville, Ill.) collected a top five finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.36 to place fourth.

Daemen will compete in the Highlander Invitational on March 29.
