Men's Tennis Falls To Bloomsburg In Friday Night Non-Conference Match

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. -- The Daemen University men's tennis team lost a non-conference match to Bloomsburg University on Friday night, 2-5, at Miller Tennis Center. It marked the third straight loss for the Wildcat and move their record to 2-7 in the spring season and 4-12 record overall this year. The Huskies improve to 5-1 on the year and beat the Wildcats for the second time in the 2024-25 season.

Bloomsburg won all three doubles matches to win the first point of the day. Daemen collected their two points of the match with big wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles play. Senior Juan Alvarez (Puebla, Mexico) won his seventh singles match of the season in a battle at top singles, taking down Bloomsburg's Denis Dementev, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6, in three sets. Playing at second singles for the fourth time this season, sophomore Lucas Garcia (Bogota, Columbia) cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Iu Casamitjana to earn his first victory this spring and second win at No. 2 singles this year. The Huskies would win singles matches 3-5 to take the match and collected a win by default at No. 6 singles as the Wildcats did not field a player.
