HOUGHTON, N.Y. - The Daemen University men's track & field team continued their spring season with a trip to Houghton University to compete in the Highlander Invitational.
The Wildcats picked up a handful of first place finishes, highlighted by sophomore
CJ Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) in the 3000 meters and junior
Giorden Martin (Rochester, N.Y.) in the long jump.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Starting on the track, Johnson placed first out of 11 runners in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:11.67. His time of 9:11.67 now ranks third all-time in program history in the event as well.
• The Baltimore, Md., native was not the only member of the Wildcats to find success in the race as sophomore
Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio) placed third with a time of 9:27.98.
• Keating also finished third in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:12.33.
• Sophomore
Owen Dernbach (Alden, N.Y.) earned a second place finish in the 400 meter race with a time of 52.46.
• Junior
Adam Kamagate (Hilton, N.Y.) claimed first place in the 400 meter hurdles with a final time of 58.44.
• Off the track, the Wildcats claimed all three podium spots in the long jump as Martin finished first with a distance of 6.20. Sophomore
Tyler Prescott (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) came in second (6.12) and Dernbach rounded out the top three (6.10).
• Prescott also came in first for the high jump with a final height of 1.88 meters.

The Wildcats will compete at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational from April 4 - 5.
