AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen University men's volleyball team put together a 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22) win on Senior Night against D'Youville in their final home game of the regular season. The Wildcats, who improved to 13-11 overall record and 4-3 record in Northeast Conference play, will end the 2025 regular season on Saturday afternoon at 4 PM across town at D'Youville's Saints Center. With tonight's win, the Wildcats finish the year with an 8-1 record at Lumsden Gymnasium. Over the past four seasons, Daemen is 37-4 at home.
The Wildcats posted a season-high 61 kills tonight while holding the Saints to just 42 kills in their loss. Daemen hit at a .264 clip in the win, totaling 55 assists along with seven total blocks and five aces.
It was Senior Night for two Wildcats tonight, with senior
Ethan Sturm (Lisle, Ill.) and graduate student
Zach Schneider (Lockport, N.Y.) being honored before their final home match. Schneider was one of three Wildcats to finish with double-digit kills in the match, while Sturm, who made his fourth start of the season tonight and played all four sets, finished with five kills on 11 attacks.
The Wildcats will wrap up the 2025 regular season on Saturday at 4 PM at D'Youville.

IMPACT PLAYERS
- Playing in his final home match of his incredibly successful six-year career, Schneider led the Wildcats offensively for the fifth straight match, totaling 18 kills on 38 attacks for a .289 clip. The outside hitter added six digs, four assists and one solo block on the night.
- Redshirt junior Billy Wieberg (Grand Island, N.Y.) finished with 17 kills on 42 attacks for a .256 hitting percentage, posting his first double-double of the season with 14 digs along with three assists and one ace.
- Redshirt freshman Patrick Mullen (Farmingdale, N.J.) totaled 16 kills with just three errors on 32 attacks for a .406 hitting percentage and added eight digs and two aces.
- Sturm totaled five kills on 11 assists, six digs, one solo block, one assist and one ace on his Senior Night.
- Junior Kyle Zelasko (West Seneca, N.Y.) tied Daemen's single game four-set match record for digs tonight, totaling 15 digs along with eight assists and one kill.
- Sophomore setter Bradyn Winters (Coraopolis, Pa.) totaled 38 assists, two solo blocks and six digs.
GAME NOTES
- The Wildcats and Saints traded points all the way to a tied game at 19 all. From there, D'Youville and Daemen took turns scoring two points apiece to tie it up at 21, but the Saints closed out the set with a 4-2 run to take the first, 25-23 despite Daemen outhitting D'Youville 17 to 11 in the set.
- The Wildcats jumped out to a hot start in the second, taking a 12-6 lead early off six Daemen kills. D'Youville scored four straight from there to make it a two-point game, but the Wildcats would never relinquish their lead, cruising to take the second set 25-20. Daemen outhit D'Youville 14 to 7 in the second, with all 14 kills from Schneider (7), Wieberg (4) and Mullen (3).
- D'Youville led by as much as three points in the middle of the third, up 15-12, until the Wildcats put together a 13-5 run to close out the set, totaling just six kills down the stretch, to take the third set 25-20.
- After D'Youville tied it up at 14, the Wildcats scored seven of the next eight points to jump out to a 21-15 advantage. From there, D'Youville went on a 7-2 run to bring the game within one, 23-22, but the Cats ended the match with back-to-back points to take the fourth set 25-22 and win the match, 3-1.
